Narrative

Abraham Fursdon married Grace Treneman 05.01.1804 in Hatherleigh, Devon.
Was it Abraham's brother who got Elizabeth Trenaman [1791] pregnant with her son Thomas ? [Father William Fursdon]

Elizabeth Trenaman b.1791 and Grace Treneman b.1782, fairly close in age, were probably good friends as well as relatives, and it is very likely that Elizabeth was in the Fursdon household quite a lot and that is where she became so involved with William, stepson and relative of Grace on the Murrain and White family lines, and grandson of John Murrin and Anne White. This must have placed Grace in an impossible position when she learned that Elizabeth was expecting William’s baby and the fact that he could not, or did not, want to get married.  Added to this problem is the fact that Grace Fursdon, being the daughter of Thomas Trenaman b.1729, would have been a first cousin of William Trenaman bapt.1761, father of Elizabeth b.1791, and it is highly likely that Elizabeth's son born in 1819 was named Thomas after the father that Grace Fursdon nee Treneman never knew.
