Searching for Jane Taylor, wife of James Trenemen of Hatherleigh, I contacted the online parish clerk for Bratton Clovelly and she replied as follows: from Joy
"I found this unusual entry for Bratton Clovelly today.
..............................................................................Taylor
Baptism: 20th May 1793 Jane dau John & Joan Tailoer(Grpts).
This is exactly as it was written where the vicar must have had a rethink of the spelling for the surname so rewrote it above. Obviously these are her grandparents. No explanation followed" (OPC)
[Could the (Grpts) be the signature of the vicar for the alteration ?] Les T
