Harriet Treniman [Cornwall]

Birth Name Harriet Treniman [Cornwall] 1a

    Also spelt Harriet Treneman

I find Harriett and her husband John Paynter very interesting for what they did. To travel at that time was difficult, but to do so with small children (having some along the way) is truly amazing. It had to be a lot on Harriett as they did not have throw-away diapers or formula to make it a little easier. They went from Cornwall to NJ and back to Cornwall in a 10 year period (about). Harriett then came back to the US, as did all the living children which again amazes me.

Harriet Treniman was married to John Paynter who was the brother of my GGM Grace Trengove nee Paynter. They were born in Cornwall and moved to the US around 1865. Her father John Paynter Sr. and mother Mary Paynter nee Rowett came with them.

Narrative

Harriet and her husband John were very interesting people.
They were married in Cornwall and had several children there. They then moved to NJ and had a child here. They then moved to New Haven Conn where they had a child, then to New London Canada where they had a child, and then back to Cornwall. They had a couple more children there as well as losing some children there.
When John Paynter died Harriet moved back to NJ where most of her children had returned to.
She is buried with her son Sylvester and his two wives in Springfield NJ. I have a photo of her headstone on line, as well as marriage and death certificates.
One of her sons Alfred moved to Butte Montana and was a mason there for a mining company and was very successful.
Most of the Paynter children were masons.
I have to do some more digging into my notes, but as I recall two of the children who remained in Cornwall for a short time lived with Harriett's sister [Emily ? Les T] who never married.
