THOMAS STRONG (a2d4)
THOMAS STRONG (a2d4) son of Thomas Strong (a2d), born in 1774 in Rockingham
County, North Carolina. On December 24, 1795 Thomas married Annie Fields in
Rockingham County, North Carolina. Annie was born October 6, 1777 in Rockingham
County, North Carolina and was the daughter of John Fields and Mary Gibson. In 1806
Thomas Strong moved from North Carolina to Russell County (Scott County), Virginia. This
was where Thomas Strong's brothers, William Strong (a2d1), had moved in 1793 and
Samuel Strong (a2d5) in 1796. Thomas lived near Samuel Strong (a2d5) on Copper Creek,
in Russell County (Scott County), Virginia. Thomas was a magistrate in Scott County, Virginia.
Annie Fields-Strong died on November 11, 1838 in Scott County, Virginia. After Annie's
death, Thomas Strong (a2d4) married Judith Poston-McHenry in Scott County, Virginia.
Judith was born in 1796 in North Carolina and the daughter of William Poston. Judith was the
possible widow of John McHenry. Thomas Strong died July 10, 1858 in Scott County,
Virginia.

JOHN STRONG (a2d4a) son of Thomas Strong (a2d4), was born about 1797 in
Rockingham County, North Carolina. On March 7, 1817 John married Hannah
Salling in Scott County, Virginia. Hannah was born in 1796 in Virginia. In 1814 John
Strong and his uncle, Samuel Strong (a2d5), were petitioners to form Scott County
from part of Russell County, Virginia. John Strong was a Methodist Episcopal
minister. On August 10, 1831 John Strong purchased land from his cousin, Agness
Fields-Casteel, the widow of Samuel Casteel. This transaction was recorded in Scott
County, Virginia Deed Book 2, page 182-183. John Strong died between August 24
and September 18, 1852 in Scott County, Virginia.

ELEANOR STRONG (a2d4b) dau. of Thomas Strong (a2d4), was born between 1798-
1799 in Rockingham County, North Carolina. Eleanor married James Booth and possibly
John Harris.
WILLIAM STRONG (a2d4c) son of Thomas Strong (a2d4), was born in 1800 in
Rockingham, North Carolina. On October 24, 1824 William married Elizabeth
Bailey. William Strong moved to Greene County, Tennessee. William was a physician,
merchant and farmer. William Strong was believed to have been a Union Sympathizer and was
killed by confederate forces under the command of General John H. Morgan. William Strong
died between 1862 and 1864.

MARY STRONG (a2d4d) dau. of Thomas Strong (a2d4), was born between 1801 and
1804 in Rockingham County, North Carolina. On November 7, 1821 Mary Strong married
Thomas Quillen in Scott County. Virginia, Thomas Quillen was born around 1805 in North
Carolina and was the son of Teaque Quillen and Peggy Nation.

JULIA ANN STRONG (a2d4e) dau. of Thomas Strong (a2d4), born in 1805 in Rockingham
County, North Carolina. On July 18, 1823 Julia married Greenburg Quillen in Scott County,
Virginia. Greenburg Quillen was born on April 29, 1803 in Surry County, North Carolina and
was the son of James Quillen and Martha Evans. Julia Strong died of consumption on April
15, 1853 at Big Moccasin Creek, Scott County, Virginia.

SAMUEL STRONG (a2d4f) son of Thomas Strong (a2d4), born in 1808 in Russell County
(Scott County), Virginia. On January 2, 1838 Samuel married Nancy Kilgore in Scott County,
Virginia. Nancy Kilgore was born July 15, 1799 in Nicklesville, Russell County (now Scott
County), Virginia and was the daughter of Reverend Robert Kilgore and Jane Porter
Green. Nancy Kilgore was married to David Alley, who died in 1835.

LYDIA STRONG (a2d4g) dau. of Thomas Strong (a2d4), born about 1812 in Russell
County (now Scott County), Virginia.
JAMES STRONG (a2d4h) son of Thomas Strong (a2d4), born about 1816 in Russell
County (Scott County), Virginia. As a note an unknown Jamie Casteel was living in the home of James
Strong in 1860.
Children of JAMES STRONG (a2d4h):
THOMAS STRONG, JR. (a2d4i) son of Thomas Strong (a2d4), born in 1817 in Scott
County, Virginia. In 1835 Thomas married Patsey Wilcox. On June 22, 1837 Thomas married
his second wife, Margaret Akens in Scott County, Virginia.
Children of THOMAS STRONG, JR. (a2d4i):
HIRAM F. STRONG (a2d4j) son of Thomas Strong (a2d4), born May 28, 1819 in Scott
County, Virginia. On November 30, 1841 Hiram married Phoebe Jane Godsey in Scott
County, Virginia. Phoebe Godsey was born in 1819 in Scott County, Virginia and was the
daughter of John Godsey and Julia A. Jett. Hiram allegedly graduated from the University of
Virginia and was a physician. Dr. Hiram F. Strong's biography appeared in the "History of
Kentucky, Illustrated", 1888 by Perrin, Battle and Kniffin. Hiram joined the confederate Army
on November 2, 1862 and served as a surgeon in the 13th Kentucky Cavalry. Hiram Strong
died after 1888 in Johnson County, Kentucky.
