Obituary from the "Daily Local News" dated March 24,
1894: The funeral of Mrs. Susan Hanaway, widow of the late Daniel
Hanaway, Elam, Delaware county, took place on Tuesday. She was
77 years of age. Deceased met with an accident six months ago.
She fell and fractured two ribs and received other injuries which
rendered her helpless, causing her much pain. Rev. A. J. Furman,
Chadds Ford, made a short address, spoke kindly of her Christian
life and character, she having united with the Second Baptist
Church, Wilmington, Delaware, in girlhood days. The pall-bearers
were Granville Rawlings, Harrison Hinkson, Henry Courtney, and
Thomas W. Johnson. The interment was made at St. John's P. E.
Church.
