Note* For some reason I feel more empathy with my great-great grandmother Helen, (or, on occasion, 'Ellen') than with any other of my distant ancestors. After all, her determination to pursue a paternity suit resulted in me and my numerous kin having the surname McCutcheon, which I think is a preferable surname to McKissock. I have no idea what Helen looked like, what kind of person she was. I've tried in vain so far to find her grave. I know she died in Tarbolton in Ayrshire in 1915, but there isn't a gravestone for her in the kirkyard in Tarbolton or in her native Dailly. I'd love to find her grave, if only to put flowers on it.
