If you need information about Chapel ancestors which is not available on this website then Sandy Quinn has the 1841, 1851, 1881 and 1891 census for the town and is willing to look up details for you at [email protected]

We both also have `The Diary of James Clegg` by Vanessa Doe. James Clegg was the minister at Chinley Independent Chapel at Chapel Milton from 1708 to 1755. As well as ministering to his neighbours` spiritual needs, he was also a doctor. The diaries detail who Clegg visited and what treatments he prescribed.  Both Sandy and I would be happy to look folks up for you in these books.

Rob Marchington  has scanned on to his web site Wm Braylesford Bunting`s interesting account of the  History of Chapel en le Frith.  The address is:

My thanks to Vanda Hopwood; Jennie Hudson; Allen Peterson and the late Bill Eyre; for sending me many of the Chapel Parish Records and to Bill Iggleden for sending the Cotterill Burials. Also thanks to John HUME for making the 1806 Chapel Rate Book and 1821 Fernilee Valuation available & to Rob Marchington for allowing me to add a copy of the 1881 census which he has on his website.
