gill Steven Gill, probably a son of Alice _____ and Steven Gill who was transported to MD between 1659 and 1664, was born about 1673 (he gave his age as 60 in 1733), probably in MD. Steven was named in the 1676 will of Henry Drewry as the son of the testator's wife Alice; in 1687 he was conveyed 182 acres at Littleton by his friend Thomas Thurston (implying that Steven Gill was perhaps b before 1673). In 1704 Steven and his wife Elizabeth _____ were tried for altering the quality of a hogshead of tobacco in Ann Arundel Co. Steven and Elizabeth were likely the parents of six children-

1.   John Gill, died by 20 Apr 1717. He married Jane Guinn, and after his death she married Jacob VanDeaver. John had a son-

      a.   Stephen Gill Jr, died in 1717 in Baltimore Co MD leaving a will dated 23 Sep 1717 and probated the following Nov.

2.   Stephen Gill, died in St Paul's Parish on 17 Feb 1734 in Baltimore Co MD and left a will dated 16 Feb 1733 naming his wife Elizabeth and three sons. He married Elizabeth Hubbert on 16 Dec 1708 in St Anne's Parish, Ann Arundel Co. Their known children were-

      a.   John Gill, b 12 Oct 1708, died 15 Jan 1797. He married Mary Rogers on 26 Feb 1730. She was born in 1712, daughter of Nicholas Rogers and Eleanor _____. Mary died on 21 Jan 1797. She and John had 11 children-

             1.   Elizabeth Gill, b 4 Mar 1731, died in Aug 1752 when she was struck by lightning.

             2.   Sarah Gill, b 15 Jan 1733, died 23 Apr 1744.

             3.   Eleanor Gill, b 15 Jan 1735, married John Pindell on 6 Nov 1757.

             4.   John Gill, b 4 Feb 1737.

             5.   William Gill, b 12 May 1739.

             6.   Stephen Gill, b 1 Jan 1741.

             7.   Edward Gill, b 2 Jul 1744.

             8.   Sarah Gill (2nd), b 2 Jan 1747, married Nicholas Cooper.

             9.   Nicholas Gill, b 25 May 1750, died in May 1793

             10. Joshua Gill, b 7 Jul 1753.

             11. Elizabeth Rogers Gill, b 13 Jun 1755, married Barclay _____.

      b.   Stephen Gill, was of age to marry Urith Butler on 27 Jun 1740. She was a daughter of Captain Henry Butler. Stephen died by 8 Sep 1789 when his estate was administered. Urith's will was made on 20 Apr 1800. She and Stephen had eleven children-

             11. Urath Gill, married Stephen Garrett Gill.

      c.    Edward Gill, was under age 18 in 1733 when his father's will was written.

      d.   Elizabeth Gill, married Edward Parrish on 3 May 1735

      e.   Sarah Gill, married William Rogers by 10 May 1728.

      f.    Prudence Gill, b 26 Jan 1727.
