Nelson is buried in Standish (Higgin-Elwell Cemetary).

I am researching my Carver, Woodbrey, and Burkett ancestors in Standish and the surrounding areas. My grandfather was Nelson Charles Carver from Steep Falls and I am interested in any information about his father Charles Nelson Carver and his mother (whose name I think is Laura Burkett). I am also researching the ancestors of my Grandmother Naomi Gertrude Woodbrey who was married to Nelson Charles Carver (her parents were Amos and Essie I. Woodbrey). So if anyone has any information, I would appreciate your help.

My direct ancestor is Elkanah Higgins who was born 13 Nov 1802 in Standish. His parents were Elkanah Higgins and Jemima (Cole). Jemima Cole was born 11 Nov 1767 in Pepperborough, Maine.
Elkanah Higgins' father was Ebenezer Higgins who was born 21 June 1721 in Eastham, Mass. He served in the Revolutionary War.
The younger Elkanah Higgins married Betsy Whitehouse and by 1840 was living in Smithfield, Somerset Co, Maine with their children: Esther Whitehouse Higgins born 15 Dec 1823, Martha Higgins born 12 Jan 1827, Nancy Jane Higgins born 17 Mar 1829, Adaline Higgins, born 23 Aug 1834, and Leonard Higgins born 27 March 1837.
Esther Whitehouse Higgins married Thomas Jefferson White 28 April 1844 at Belgrade, Maine. Their youngest son Frank White was born 26 Feb 1864 in Walpole, Maine. The family moved to Cottonwood County, Minnesota in 1870. Frank was my great grandfather.

in the 1st Church of Standish by the Rev. Daniel Marrett. Who were the
parents of Stephen and Patience? Did Stephen and Patience remain in the
Standish area after the marriage? Or, did they migrate west? Where did
they settle? Were any children born to Stephen and Patience? If so, who
was born and when?

I am researching Fred HARMON (father of Frank L. HARMON who married Florence
SHAW in 1899) and his wife Georgia LIBBY, and Charles L. SHAW and his wife
Harriet (Hattie) B. LOMBARD (parents of Florence SHAW). The 1905 census shows
Charles Shaw and Frank L. Harmon living in Sebago Lake Station. Oral family
history claims Charles Shaw is a descendent of the bard, Thomas Shaw.

John's parents were Mr. and Mrs. MARTHA SHAW.
Elizabeth's parents were THADEAUS and ROWENA THURSTON.
They were all said to come from the Standish Maine area.
Martha's husband was said to be a capt. on a canal boat in the area.

I am searching for the parents of Caleb SMITH (abt 1795 - bef. 1860). Caleb
was "of Standish" in 1818 when he married Alice TIBBETS (d/o Stephen and
Mehitable) of Hiram. Caleb and Alice had 11 children born in Standish from 1819
to 1839--Anna, Mehitable, Stephen Tebbets, Harriet Lincoln, James, Joseph, Olive
Cole, Isaac Rogers, Roxanna Whitney, Eliza Jane Wood (my gr.gr.grandmother) and
Hanson Clement. I have been unable to find when Caleb was born or when he died.
All his census entries are consistent with birth in 1795. He does not appear in
the 1860 census. In 1860 Allice SMITH lived in Limington in the same household
as her son Joseph. Any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.

I am the ggggs of Rev. John Swett and Elizabeth Wales Yates
of Standish, Cumberland, Maine. They were married in ME c.
1790, and migrated to s.e. Ohio c. 1800. I would like to find
out who their parents were. John and Elizabeth are interred
in Concord Cemetery, in northern Ames Twp., Athens Co., Ohio,
along with other Swetts.

Researching Jedediah Witham who was born about 1761 in Standish.
Parents unknown. He married Mahitabal Swett, also of Standish, Daughter of
Jonathan Swett and Kisiah. The marriage took place 9 Oct 1774 in Gorham.
Jedediah was a Sea Captain who took ill while in the West Indies. The ship
put into Cuba where he died sometime before 1797. I am looking for a birth
record for both Jedediah and Mahitabal in Standish. I would also like to
hear from anyone else who is researching these persons.

Children of Joseph YOUNG 3rd & Mary GREEN: Francis Asbury b abt 1832;
Aphia, Samuel, Sadie m. Eugene LOANIS, George, Eban, 2 other girls. I would
be grateful for any information I can find on this family. I believe that
they moved to Mass prior to 1852.
