Estate of Alonzo Edgerton

(Probate Record: Granby District, Volume 14, pp. 714 – 718)

 

 

Petition for Letters of Administration

 

To the Probate court for the District of Granby Estate of Alonzo Edgerton late of Granby in said District deceased The subscriber represents that Alonzo Edgerton last dwelt in the town of Granby in said District and died on the 1st day of February A.D. 1905, possessed of goods and estate remaining to be administered, leaving a widow whose name is Kate C. Edgerton and as his only heirs at law and next of kin the persons whose names residences and relationship to the deceased are as follows, viz:

and that said deceased left no will.  Therefore, your petitioner prays that letters of administration may be granted to Fred B. Case of Granby, Connecticut.

Bond of Administration

Know all men by these Presents That we Fred B. Case of Granby as principal and Frank J. Stone as surety, are holden and stand firmly bound and obliged jointly and severally unto the State of Connecticut in the penal sum of twenty five Hundred Dollars to be paid to said State or to the certain attorney:  To the which payment well and truly to be made, we the said obligers do bind ourselves our heirs executors and administrators and each and every of them for and in the whole sum aforesaid, firmly on these presents.

The condition of this Obligation is such that whereas the above bounden Fred B. Case has been duly appointed by the Probate Court for the district of Granby Administrator on the intestate estate of Alonzo Edgerton late of Granby, deceased, and has accepted said trust, and Therefor if the said Fred B. Case shall well and faithfully discharge the duties of this appointment according to law then the above obligation to be void and of none effect, otherwise to remain in full force power and virtue.

Return of Inventory

 

At a Court of Probate holden at Granby within and for the district of Granby on the 14th day of February A.D. 1905

 

Present N.E. Kendall Esq Judge

 

Estate of Alonzo Edgerton late of Granby in said district deceased.  The inventory and appraisal of said estate amounting to $3134 dollars was this day lodged in Court, which being duly sworn to is accepted and allowed and ordered to be records and kept on file.  The Administrator on said estate is directed by this Court to sell as much of the personal estate as he shall deem best wither at public or private sale as he shall deem best and make return to this Court.

Return of Creditors

 

State of Connecticut

 

To the Probate Court for the District of Granby, Estate of Alonzo Edgerton, late of Granby in said district deceased.  The subscriber hereby makes return – That pursuant to the order of said court made on 7th day of Feb. 1905, allowing six months for the creditors to exhibit their claims against said estate, and directing notice thereof to be given as by said order on record now fully appears:  he gave public notice of said order, and time allowed by said court by posting of notice thereof on the sign post nearest to where the deceased last dwelt in said town of Granby and publishing the same in the Hartford Post Feb 9 – 1905, a newspaper printed in the county of Hartford and having a circulation in said district.  And that within said time allowed the following claims were exhibited to and allowed by the administrator as follows, viz:

Order of Hearing on Administration Allowance

 

District of Granby Sd. Probate Court Sept. 16th 1905.  Estate of Alonzo Edgerton lat of Granby in said District deceased.  The Administrator having exhibited his administration account with said estate to this Court for allowance is Ordered – That the 23rd day of Sept. 1905, at 9 o’clock in the forenoon, at the Probate Office in Granby, he and the same is assigned for a hearing on the allowance of said administration account and this Court directs the administrator to cite all persons interested therein to appear at said time and place by posting a copy of this order on the public sign post in the town of Granby where the deceased last dwelt, at least 5 days before said time assigned.

To the Probate Court of the District of Granby Estate of Alonzo Edgerton late of Granby deceased.  The subscriber hereby makes return that pursuant to an order Court passed on the 16th day of Sept. 1905 for a hearing on the allowance of the administration account with said estate he caused a copy of said order to be on the 18th day of Sept. 1905 posted on the sign post in said Granby nearest to the place where the deceased last dwelt.

Estate of Alonzo Edgerton late of Granby in said District deceased.  Return was made that the notice ordered by this Court on the 16th day of Sept. 1905 for a hearing on the allowance of the administration with said estate had been given and lodged said account in Court.  After a full hearing, said account being sworn to is accepted and allowed and ordered to be recorded and kept on file.  This Court finds that the several orders and decrees granted on said estate have been duly executed and performed.

Release of Interest in Estate – Lloyd L. Edgerton

 

Know all men by these Presents That I Lloyd L. Edgerton of the Town of Granby, County of Hartford and State of Connecticut in consideration of the cancellation and discharge of a certain mortgage deed and noted executed on the said Lloyd Edgerton to Alonzo Edgerton dated May 23rd 1905 released to the said Lloyd L. Edgerton on deed of even date herewith by Fred B. Case, Adm. on the Estate of Alonzo Edgerton deceased, and the other consideration of one dollar received to my full satisfaction of Kate C. Edgerton and George Edgerton, both of said Town of Granby, do hereby assign transfer and set over on myself my heirs and assigns, unto the said Kate C. Edgerton and George Edgerton, All my right, title and interest and share, in and to the Estate of my father, Alonzo Edgerton, deceased, both real and personal property other than said mortgage Note, whatsoever and wheresoever situated – To have and to hold the above described property unto them, the said Kate C. Edgerton and George Edgerton and to their heirs and assigns forever, to their own proper use, benefit and [----] forever.
