The Last Will and Testament of Asenath Edgerton

   I Asenath Edgerton of Franklin in the County of New London and State of Connecticut – do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following viz. –

   I will that all my debts and funeral charges be paid by my executors hereafter named.  I also direct that a decent pair of grave stones be provided for me by my said executors –

   All my land I give to my niece Bethiah Bentley –

   I give to my nephew Eleazer Bentley five dollars in money and my great coat –

   I give my stockings to Bethiah Bentley and Fidelia wife to Eleazer Bentley to be divided equally between them – I also give said Fidelia one pair of sheets – All the rest and residue of my wearing apparrel I give to said Bethiah and Phebe Gager to be divided equally between them –

   I give to Bethiah Bentley one pair of linnen sheets mark’d A.E. and three woollen sheets, also one pair of mark’d pillow cases, best towel and one table cloth –

   I give to Job B. Gager my red chest (which has a draw) –

   I give to Emily Angeline Gager Daughter to Hermon Gager my best bed bolster and pillows –

   I give to Elisabeth Emeline Gager Daughter to said Hermon my looking glass –

   I give Phebe Gager three pair of linnen sheets and one coverlaid –

   I give unto John Gager ten dollars –

   The remainder of my money or obligation I give to said John Gager, Hermon Gager and Job B. Gager to be divided equally –

   All the rest and residue of my property I give to Phebe Gager and Emeline Gager wife to Hermon Gager to be divided equally between them –

   And lastly I constitute and appoint John Gager and Hermon Gager my executors –

   In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal this 3rd day of December 1834 –

Signed Sealed published and pronounced by the said Asenath Edgerton as her last will and Testament, who in her presence, and the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names.
