Caleb Edgerton was born at West Granby, Connecticut
circa 1817, the youngest son of Jacob and Nancy (Lee) Edgerton. He was married at Canton, Connecticut
on September 12, 1849 to Miss Angeline M. Lamberson. According to the marriage record (Canton
VR, pg. 34), Angeline was “of Pennsylvania”. Angeline may have been the daughter of
Isaac and Rebecca Lamberson, of Athens, Bradford County, Pennsylvania,
who are buried nearby Caleb Edgerton at the Old
Riverside Cemetery
in Athens
(see below).

Caleb was residing adjacent to his elder brother,
Alonson, at this time.
Circa 1850 – 1853, Caleb left Connecticut
and settled in Athens Township, Bradford
County, Pennsylvania
(probably his wife’s hometown). There
are currently records of three children born to Caleb and Angeline Edgerton –
one son, Willis C., born in West Granby on September 20, 1850; and two
daughters, Jerusha, born in Athens circa 1853,
and Lucinda, born in Athens
circa 1856.
Caleb Edgerton died on May 20, 1857 and was buried at Old Riverside
Cemetery in Athens Township, Pennsylvania. According to the headstone inscription,
Caleb died on May 20, 1857, aged 41 years.
Also buried at Old
Riverside Cemetery
are “Isaac Lamberson” (1798 - 1866) and “Rebecca Lamberson, wife of
Isaac” (1799 - 1864), who may have
been Caleb’s father-in-law and mother-in-law.

Edgerton was remarred circa 1860 – 1866 to a Mr. Dickson, who was either away
from home at the time of the 1870 Federal Census enumeration or had already
died. Mrs. “Angeline Dickson” was
recorded as a head of household in the 1870
Federal Census of Athens Boro, Bradford County, Pennsylvania
(dwelling #34; family #38; enum. August 9, 1870), the enumeration of the
family being as follows:

There is currently no record of the death of Mrs.
Angeline (Lamberson) Edgerton Dicson. Caleb
and Angeline’s only son, Willis C., was married and settled in Chemung County, New York
(just north across the Pennsylvania border
from Bradford County). The elder daughter, Jerusha, was married in
1881 to Clarence W. Peck and died just a few years later. There is no further record of the younger
daughter, Lucinda.
