Charles M. Edgerton, son of George Hough and Amanda Hawse (Lasell) Edgerton.
Charles M. Edgerton was the only son on George Hough and Amanda Hawse (Lasell) Edgerton. He was born at Pawlet, Vermont on May 22, 1843. Charles grew up in Wallingford, Vermont, where his parents settled when Charles was about five years old.
Charles M. Edgerton “of Wallingford” enlisted on July 16, 1862 as a Sergeant in Company G, 25th Infantry Regiment of Vermont. He was later promoted to Lieutenant. Charles Edgerton died of disease at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 28, 1864. His remains were returned to Wallingford for burial at Green Hill Cemetery. Charles’ name appears on the Civil War Roll of Honor Monument at Gilbert Hart Library in the center of Wallingford Village. |
