Clinton D. Edgerton died at Hartford, Connecticut
on May 30, 1883. According to the Hartford death record (Vital Records, Book D1, pp.
180-181), he was aged 69 years, 1 month and 13 days, and was born in New York State,
the son of Joshua and Roxanna (both born in Connecticut). The record also states that Clinton was married,
and had died at 19 Afflick
Street.
The cause of death was given as “accident”. Clinton was
buried at the Old North Cemetery
in Hartford,
where many other members of his immediate family, including his wife and two
of his sons, were also interred.
We are indebted to Mr. Nicholas Mills Edgerton, of
North Adams, Massachusetts, who has provided many of
the details on the family and descendants of Clinton D. and Mary A. (Fox)
Edgerton.
