The following obituary notice for Mrs. Coila Merle
(Edgerton) Brown was published in The
Westmoreland Recorder on December 24, 1942: “Mrs. J. G. Brown Mrs. Guy McLaughlin received a message Thursday telling
of the death of her niece, Mrs. J. G. Brown of McFarland, Kansas. Mrs. Brown was formerly Merle Edgerton, daughter of
George Edgerton and the late Mrs. Mattie Taylor Edgerton. Survivors are her husband and son, Jack; her
father, George Edgerton of Topeka; one sister, Mrs. John McRae of Manhattan;
and several aunts and cousins. Funeral services were held in Topeka, Saturday afternoon.” |
