The following obituary for Cruger Gallaudet Edgerton was published in The New York Times on June 7, 1946:

 

“Maj. Cruger Gallaudet Edgerton B.29 pilot and flight commander missing after a night mission over Tokyo May 26, 1945 has been officially listed as killed in action.  He had completed twenty-two combat missions from the Marianas.  The son of the late Prof. And Mrs. John W. Edgerton of New Haven, Conn., he was in his senior year at Weslyan University where he was appointed an aviation cadet in 1941.  He leaves a brother John W. and a sister Mrs. Horace S. Marshall of this city and another sister Miss Marion Edgerton of Pine Orchard, Conn.”
