David Edgerton, son of Sheldon and Fanny (Griswold) Edgerton.
David Edgerton was born March 22, 1828 at Pawlet,
Vermont, the son of Sheldon and Fanny (Griswold) Edgerton. David was raised in Pawlet. He made his living variously as a farmer,
miner and census taker. Upon his
maturity, David left Vermont and removed west. He resided for a time circa 1860 in Humbug Township,
California, and then settled in Owyhee County, Idaho. He was never married. The household of “D. Edgerton” was recorded in the
1860 Federal Census
of Humbug Township, Siskiyou County, California (pg. 81; dwelling #1102;
family #1083; enum. July 19, 1860), as follows:
At the time of the 1870 Federal
Census,
David Edgerton was residing in Wagon Town District, Owyhee County, Idaho in
the household of William Squires (pg. 196; dwelling #30; family #30; enum.
June 21, 1870). He was enumerated as, “David
Edgerton, aged 37, b. in Ohio [sic], works in mines” The household of David Edgerton was recorded in
the 1880 Federal Census
of “Enumeration District No. 29”, Owyhee County,
Idaho (dwelling #253; family #255; enum. June 30, 1880), as follows:
