Duncombe Edgerton, son of Curtis and Amy (Harris) Edgerton.
Christina Taylor
Children:
Duncombe Edgerton was born May 1828 at Woodstock Township, Ontario, Canada, the son of Curtis and Amy (Harris) Edgerton. His name is found variously recorded occassionally as “Duncan Edgerton” – mostly in census records, where the listing is presumed to be a phonetic misspelling of Duncombe’s uncommon first name. Duncombe was raised in Woodstock Township and Berlin, Michigan, where his parents settled during his childhood. He resided most of his life in eastern Michigan (Richmond and Dryden), later removing with his son to Washington State. He made his living principally as a blacksmith. At the time of the 1850 Federal Census, Duncombe Edgerton was recorded in the household of his brother-in-law, Joseph Deneen, in Imlay, Lapeer County, Michigan (pg. 736; dwelling #277; family #280; enum. August 1, 1850). He was enumerated as “Duncombe Edgerton, aged 21, born U.C., laborer”. Duncombe Edgerton’s wife was Christina Taylor, a native of Scotland. According to census records (see below), Christina was born circa 1840; her parentage is not yet known. Duncombe and Christina were married at Romeo, Macomb County, Michigan on November 1, 1856 (Macomb County Vital Records “Marriages, Book D, 1849 – 1861”; pg. 277). Duncombe and Christina (Taylor) had one child – a son, Robert, born at Dryden on December 4, 1867. The household of Duncomb
