At the time of the 1900 Federal Census, Edward C. Edgerton was residing in the household of his elder brother, Lewis H. Edgerton in  Coldwater City (Ward 1), Branch County, Michigan (pg. 90; dwelling #113; family #120; enum. June 6, 1900).  He was enumerated as “Edward O. Edgerton, lodger, b. October 1859 in New York, aged 40, single, father b. New York, mother b. New York.”

 

At the time of the 1910 Federal Census, Edward C. Edgerton was residing in the household of his nephew-in-law, Walter Sanford, in Coldwater, Branch County, Michigan (dwelling #177; family #187; enum. April 23-25, 1910).  He was enumerated as “Edward C. Edgerton, lodger, aged 50, single, b. New York, father b. New York, mother b. New York”.

 

The following obituary for Edward Coburn Edgerton appeared in the Weekly Courier, Coldwater, Michigan on Tuesday, January 2, 1912 (transcript courtesy of Diane Hosler):

 

“Edward Edgerton died Monday evening at half past five in Emergency Hospital.  He had been ill for some time of pneomonia.

 

Edward Coburn Edgerton was born in Watervale N.Y. on October 3, 1860 [sic].  He came to Coldwater 37 years ago and he made this his home since then.  He was a blacksmith by trade.  The only surviving relatives are a brother Herbert Edgerton of this city a step-brother Fred Little of Chicago and a niece Mrs Walter Sanford of this city.

 

The funeral was held this afternoon.  The services were in the charge of the Eagles and was held at the home of Walter Sanford.  Rev. G. E. Barnes officiated and burial was made at Oak Grove.”
