At the time of this census, the family was residing adjacent to Mary Jane’s brother, Edward Freligh, who whose household was enumerated just previously on the Berlin census roll.  It appears that George’s birthplace was first written as “Michigan”, but later erased and corrected to “Vermont”; however, the enumerator apparently failed to make the appropriate correction in the listings for the two children.

According to the above census record, Jenny was the mother of five children, all of whom were still living.   George’s occupation was listed as “farmer”, Ada was listed as a “schooteacher”, Oswald was listed as a “day laborer”, and the three younger children were noted as “at school”.
