George H. Edgerton was born at Delhi, New York circa 1819. He was the eldest son of Gurden H. Edgerton and Hannah Fisher. George was raised in Delhi. He later resided successively in Kortwright, New York, St. Minneapolis and Chicago, Illinois. He made his living as a merchant and businessman. The following announcement of the marriage of George H. Edgerton and Lydia Hunt was published in the the Delaware County Gazette on September 29, 1841: “George H. Edgerton of the firm Elwood & Edgerton of Delhi married Lydia C. Hunt, daughter of Ambrose Hunt of Kortright at Kortright on the 23rd by Rev. Daniel Shepard.” The household of George H.
