George H. Edgerton was born at Delhi, New York circa 1819.  He was the eldest son of Gurden H. Edgerton and Hannah Fisher.  George was raised in Delhi.  He later resided successively in Kortwright, New York, St. Minneapolis and Chicago, Illinois.  He made his living as a merchant and businessman.

 

The following announcement of the marriage of George H. Edgerton and Lydia Hunt was published in the the Delaware County Gazette on September 29, 1841:

 

“George H. Edgerton of the firm Elwood & Edgerton of Delhi married Lydia C. Hunt, daughter  of Ambrose Hunt of Kortright at Kortright on the 23rd by Rev. Daniel Shepard.”

The following obituary for Mrs. Lydia C. (Hunt) Edgerton was published in The Chicago Daily Times on Monday, April 20, 1891:

 

“EDGERTON – Sunday, April 19, Lydia C., wife of Geo. H. Edgerton: remains will be taken East for burial at 2 p.m., today (Monday) from residence, 481 Wabash av.”

 

An obituary notice was also published in the Delaware County Gazette on Wednesday, April 22, 1891.

 

The following obituary for George H. Edgerton was published in The Chicago Daily Times on Sunday, April 30, 1893:

 

“EDGERTON – At Delhi, N. Y., April 20, George H. Edgerton, formerly of Chicago, aged 72 years.”
