as follows:
At
the time of this enumeration, the family was residing at 519 Lawrence
Street. George’s occupation was listed
as “fireman – electric plant”. The
following obituary for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Shope) Edgerton was published in The Topeka Daily Capital on Friday, April 25, 1947: “Mary E. Edgerton, 60, died Thursday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Helen Picolet, 1048 Winfield. Mrs. Edgerton was born in Elkhart, Ind., and came to Kansas City, Mo., when she was 15 years of age, where she lived for 15 years, when she moved to Topeka, where she had since made her home. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of the Latter Day Saints. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Picolet and Mrs. Fern Sampke of Topeka; two brothers, Toner Schope of White City and Charles Schope of Las Vegas, N.M., and three grandchildren. Eslinger’s will annouce the funeral arrangements.” The
following funeral notice for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Shope) Edgerton was
published in The Topeka Daily Capital on Sunday, April 27,
1947: “Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Shope Edgerton, who died in Topeka Thursday, April 24, will be held at the Eslinger Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock. She was the wife of the late George W. Edgerton. Mrs. Edgerton was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and Elder Nels B. Lundwall of Salt Lake City, Utah, will officiate at the services. Burial will take place in Rochester Cemetery.” Original Source Documents: World War
