following obituary for Mrs. Grace Venetta (Edgerton) Marquand was published
in the Flint Journal on Monday, May
24, 1993 (transcript courtesy of Diane Hosler): “Marquand, Grace V. – Of Flint, age 79, died Sunday, May 23, 1993 at Flint Osteopathic Hospital. Funeral service will be held 3 PM Wednesday, May 26, 1993 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Jim Glasco officiating. Burial in Goodland Cemetery, Imlay City, Michigan. Visitation 5-9 PM Monday and 1-4 and 6-9PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Marquand was born in Reese Michigan on June 29, 1912 [sic], the daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Travis) Edgerton. She married Harry W. Marquand in 1950 in Flint. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She taught millinery through the Mott Foundation for many years. Surviving are her beloved daughter, Marjorie and husband Harold L. Hampton of Flint; 4 grandchildren, Yvonne K. (China-Doll) and husband Mike Coates of Davison, Harold L. Hampton II of Grand Blanc, Brian K. and wife Tammy Hampton of Flint, Dawn Marie (Chickadee) Hampton of Flint; 10 great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews and special friend, Gail Dale. There was a special place in her heart for great-grandson Thomas L. Gardner who is severely mentally impaired. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry W. Marquand in October, 1973.” |
