Some Account of the Cone Family in America (William Whitney Cone; Crane & Co., Topeka, Kansas; 1903; p. 238), provides the following biographical excerpt for Guilford Dudley Edgerton:

 

“Guilford D. Edgerton, son of Edward Edgerton, b. Nov. 7, 1821, m. Mar. 11, 1846, Elizabeth Clagett, dau. of Charles Clagett and Rebecca Gay.  She was b. May 5, 1845 [sic], and res. at Creston, Ia.  Both were members of the M. E. Ch. at that place.  Mr. Edgerton was a farmer, a Republican in politics, and d. at Creston Dec. 1, 1888.”
