Henry L. Edgerton “of Lincoln, Wisconsin” served as a private in the Union Army during the Civil War.  He enlisted on August 9, 1862 and fought in D Company; 25th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment.  Henry’s elder brother, Charles L., enlisted on the same day and also fought in the 25th Regiment (D Company).  Henry L. Edgerton died of disease at Greenfield, Wisconsin on December 4, 1863 (see Roster of Wisconsin Volunteers: War of the Rebellion, 1886).  According to family records, Henry died at the home of his sister, Caroline, in Greenfield, Wisconsin while on sick leave.  He was buried in the soldier’s lot at La Grange Cemetery in La Grange Township, Wisconsin.
