The following obituary for Mrs. Sally (Payne) Edgerton was published in The Oneonta Herald on April 22, 1868:

 

“DIED –   In Franklin, 18th, inst., Mrs. Hiram Edgerton, in her 61st year.”

 

At the time of the 1870 Federal Census, Hiram Edgerton was residing in Franklin, Delaware County, New York in the household of his son-in-law, Dwight Thompson (pg. 155; dwelling #77; family #95; enum. June 28, 1870).  He was enumerated as, “H. Edgerton, shoe merchant, aged 61, born in New York, with $3,000 real estate and $1,000 personal estate”.

 

The following obituary notice for Mrs. Adeline Edgerton was published in The Oneonta Herald on August 1, 1872:

 

“DIED –  EDGERTON.-  In Franklin, July 21st, Mrs. Hiram Edgerton, aged 62 years”
