The following obituary for James Leander Edgerton appeared in The Los Angeles Times on June 18, 1947:

 

“J. L. Edgerton, 100, Dies in Burbank

 

BURBANK, June 17. – James L. Edgerton, who would have been 101 years old on Aug. 14 died today at his home, 433 Cedar Ave.

 

A resident here for 26 years, he formerly was a farmer.  He leaves a dauughter, Phoenix Le Duc of the home address and a son, L. L. Edgerton, San Francisco.”
