James Watson Edgerton was born at Marietta, Ohio in March 1846, the youngest child of Luther Edgerton Jr. and Elizabeth McKennan Morgan.  His birth was entered in the Luther Edgerton Family Bible (FG9), but without listing the date of his birth.  The partial date given here is provided by the 1900 Federal Census enumeration (see below).

 

James was raised in Marietta and was married there at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on June 3, 1874 to Mary Hildreth Ross, daughter of Andrew and Rhoda Maria (Hildreth) Ross of Marietta (see Centennial Historical Memorial St. Luke’s Episcopal Church – A Brief History of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Marietta 1826-1926; Mary Ramsey Turner, comp.;Marietta, Ohio; January 1926).  James and Mary (Ross) Edgerton did not have any children.
