The following obituary for Jedediah Howard Edgerton was published in The New York Times on June 7, 1942:

 

“Dr. J. H. Edgerton, 59, Minister, Educater

 

Springfield Clergyman Once Was President of Ogden College

 

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., June 6 – The Rev. Jedidiah H. Edgerton, minister of the New church in Boston until he came to this city as a missionary pastor fifteen years ago, died last night in his home in West Springfield.  His age was 59.

 

Dr. Edgerton broadcast every Sunday on the program, “The Cavalry of the White Horse,” over WSPR.  During all the time that he was heard over the local station he never identified himself.

 

Dr. Edgerton served for a number of years as president of Ogden College, Bowling Green, Ky.  For some time he was instructor of English and public speaking at Carnegie Institute of Technology.  During the first World War he served with the National War Work Council, engaged in psychological work with soldiers and sailors returning from the war zones.

 

He leaves a widow, Mrs. Lillian Seitz Edgerton; a daughter, Miss Ruth Edgerton of Lexington; a son, Howard, of West Springfield, and three brothers.”
