He was raised in West Granby, but later removed west to Delaware County, Ohio and from there to Erie County, Pennsylvania. He was married four times and had one child – a son, Eleazer, born at West Granby in 1832. Jefferson’s first wife – and the mother of his only child – was Eliza Pettibone. She was reportedly born in 1802 and died in 1832, probably in childbirth. Jefferson’s second wife was named Rosannah; neither her surname nor parentage are known at this time. According to the records of the West Granby Cemetery, Rosannah died on March 21, 1845, aged 54 years. Her death was entered in the registers of the “West Granby Burying-Ground” (pg. 15, no. 301) as follows: “1845...March 21...Rosannah wife of Jefferson Edgerton...consumption...[age] 54”. Following the death of his second wife, Jefferson removed to Delaware, Ohio, where he was married a third time on July 18, 1846 to Mrs. Susannah (Burr) Gillett, daughter of Zebina and Rosannah (Dibble) Burr of Granby and widow of Amasa Gillett. Jefferson removed finally to Elk Creek Township in Erie County, Pennsylvania. He was married there a fourth time on November 27, 1859 to Mrs. Laura (----) Brock, widow of Francis Brock. The marriage was entered in the private marriage records of methodist circuit minister Rev. George Stuntz, October 4, 1825 – November 5, 1865 as follows: “1859 - Nov. 27 - Jeferson Edgerton m.
