The following obituary notice for Mrs. Jessie Mabel (Edgerton) Dalrymple was printed in the Mills County Tribune on August 25, 1913 (transcription courtesy of Ms. Linda Glover and Anita Roath):

 

“It was sad news conveyed to her family and friends when they learned Saturday of the death of Mrs. Earl Dalrymple at an Omaha hospital to which she had been taken only the day before. She had been a sufferer for several weeks but few realized its seriousness.  Her body was brought home Saturday evening and her funeral took place Sunday at her late home, conducted by Rev Cable of the M. E. Church.  Her burial was in the Emerson Cemetery. 

 

Jesse Mable Edgerton was born in Emerson, Iowa June 19, 1878.  At the age of nine years she was bereaved of her mother through death.  With her father she removed to Boonville NY.  Her father died at this place.  She continued to make her home there. In 1908 she began a course in St Luke’s hospital, Utica NY to become a trained nurse, graduating in 1911.  In early life she became a member of the Baptist Church.  She was married to Earl Dalrymple April 19, 1913.  She fell ill on July 16 and was taken to the Clarkson Hospital, Omaha, August 22, and died there the next day.  She leaves no immediate relatives.”

 

An obituary notice was also printed her hometown paper, the Boonville Herald (transcription courtesy of Ms. Linda Glover, publication date unkown):

 

“Mable Edgerton Dalrymple…Word ths been received here of the death of Mrs. Earl Dalrymple, at her home in Hastings Iowa. Mrs Dalrymple’s maiden name was Mabel Edgerton and she resided in and about Boonville NY until last fall when she moved to Iowa.  She was a graduate of St Luke's Hospital, Utica NY, and when not nursing made her home for several years with her cousins, Mr and Mrs Adelbert Talcott.  She is survived by the following Aunts who reside in Boonville: Mrs. D. Daniels, Mrs. Lora Talcott and Mrs. O. Hall.  Boonville friends will regret to hear of her death.”
