dwelling #258; family #251; enum. June 23, 1860), as follows:
Mrs. Angenette (Bump) Wood Haight was later convicted of the murder of her third husband, George W. Haight, of DeRuyter, NewYork. She was tried at Morrisville, New York and sentenced to death by the Madison County Court, but her sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment at the Onondaga County Penitentiary. Testimony given at the inquest and subsequent trial brought into question the nature of her first two husbands’ deaths. An account of the inquest was published in The Utica Morning Herald on Monday, March 26, 1883. Numerous accounts of Mrs. Haight’s trial and subsequent conviction are found in newspapers throughout New York state. Original Source Documents: 1860 Federal
