The following obituary for John Andrew Edgerton
was published in The Washington Post
on July 7, 1945:
“EDGERTON, JOHN ANDREW.
On Thursday, July 5, 1945, JOHN ANDREW EDGERTON, of 1350 Monroe st. nw., formerly of Terre Haute, Ind.,
beloved husband of Martha Alice Edgerton and father of Harry L. Edgerton,
Mrs. Mary E. McDonald, Joseph E. Edgerton, Mrs. Agnes Conley, Charles B.
Edgerton and Mrs Elizabeth Jeffers. He
also is survived by 11 grandchildren.
Remains resting at the S. H. Hunes Co. funeral home, 2901 14th st.
nw. Services Monday, July 9, at 9:30
a.m.; thence to the Shrine of the Sacred Heart, 16th st. and Park rd., where
mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Interment Cedar Hill
Cemetery.”
The following obituary for Mrs. Martha Alice
(Tinker) Edgerton was published in the Terre
Haute Star (pg. 2) on Tuesday, May 28, 1957:
“MRS. MARTHA A. EDGERTON
Funeral services for Mrs. Martha A. Edgerton, 83 years
old, formerly of Terre Haute, who died Sunday
in Washington, D. C., will be at 9 o’clock tomorrow morning at Sacred Heart
Church in Washington. Burial also will be there. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Agnes
Conley of Terre Haute,
and Mrs. Ethel McDonald and Mrs. Elizabeth Mayes, both of Washington, D. C.;
three sons, Joseph and Charles of Washington, D. C., and Harry of St.
Petersburg, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The body is at the Hines Funeral Home in Washington.”
