The following obituary for Leroy Curtis Edgerton was published in the Poplar Bluff Daily American in January 1959 (exact publication date unknown, transcript courtesy of Diane Hosler):

“LEROY C. EDGERTON SERVICES CONDUCTED IN WALNUT GROVE

Fisk – Final rites for Leroy Curtis Edgerton., Sr., 65-year-old electrical repairman and farmer of Route 1, Fisk, who died Jan. 6, were held Friday at 1 in the Walnut Grove General Baptist Church. The Rev. Troy White officiated and burial was in the Brown Chapel Cemetery under the direction of White’s Funeral Chapel.

In the original obituary notice an error was noted. It is pointed out that Mr. Edgerton was married Feb. 3, 1915, to the former Miss Eva Marie White at Kansas City. Mo.”
