Ansel Nash.  Levi and Edna were both termed “of Tolland”.

Edna (Grant) Edgerton was born in Tolland, Connecticut on August 1, 1791.  Coincidentally, her father, Ebenezer Grant, was the first husband of Levi’s aunt, Phebe Edgerton, who had died in 1780.

Eldest Daughter of Levi & Edna G. Edgerton died Nov. 2, 1847, Aged 21”.  The younger daughter, Amaret Grant, was married in 1857 to Noah Edward Pease, and resided in nearby Somers, Connecticut.

Upon the death of his father in 1825, Levi Edgerton succeeded to the family homestead in Tolland.  He provided a home there for his mother, Mary, and maiden sister, Mary, until their deaths in 1833 and 1834, respectively.  The household of Levi Edgerton was recorded in the 1830 Federal Census of Tolland, Tolland County, Conencticut (pg. 186), with the following enumeration:

Following the death of Levi’s wife, his nephew, Linus returned to Connecticut from New Jersey, where he had lived for a number of years, in order to care for his uncle.  In August 1865, Levi wrote a Last Will and Testament, in which he left Linus his entire estate in consideration of Linus’ agreement “to continue to live with me and take care of me during my natural life”.  The will was dated August 26, 1865 at Tolland, and was witnessed by Oliver P. Hyde, Joshua Griggs and Wm. R. Ladd.
