The Last Will and Testament of Mrs. Elizabeth (Scudder) Edgerton
Norwich, November 28th: AD 1753. In the name of God Amen. I Elisabeth Edgerton of Norwich in the County of New London: Send greeting: and know ye that I the above said Elisabeth Edgerton being feeble in body through age but in health and of a sound and disposing mind thanks be given to God therefor – Considering that the time of my departure out of this world may
be near and how soon or sudden God only knows and knowing that it is my duty
to settle what estate God hath blessed me with, do make and ordain this my
last will and testament – first and on the principal and greatest concern of
all I give and bequeath my soul to God who gave me a being and my body to the
Earth from whence it was taken to be decently buried by executor here after
mentioned: and as to my estate first I order all my just debts and funeral
charges to be paid by my executor – Secondly I give and bequeath unto my dutyfull daughter Anne Edgerton all the remainder of my goods and estate that any ways appertain unto me at my decease to be delivered unto my said daughter Anne at my decease by my said executor: And I do hereby revoke disavow and make void all former or other wills by me made or intended to be made ratifying and allowing this and no other to be my last will and testament and do hereby appoint my dutyfull son Jacob Edgerton to be my executor of this my last will and testament and for confirmation of what is above written I do declare this and no other to be my last will and testament this day and year above written: Signed Sealed and Delivered to be the last will and testament of
