The following obituary for Mrs. Leona (Jones) Edgerton was published in the Petoskey News-Review on Thursday, January 8, 1959, pg 4 (transcript courtesy of Diane Hosler):

 

“Former Resident Dies Yesterday

 

Services for Mrs. Leona J. Edgerton, 79, Traverse City, former Petoskey resident, who died yesterday at home there, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Briggs Funeral Home.  Rev. Russell King will be in charge and burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.

 

She was born in St. Clair county Feb. 3, 1879.  She was married to Myron Edgerton in 1893 at Allington.  They moved to Petoskey in 1900 and then to Traverse city in 1914.  He preceded her in death in 1942.

 

Surviving are two sons, Harris of Detroit and Wendell of Wellington, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Alice) Ockis of Tenafly, N.J.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Minor Jones of Kewadin and Meodon Jones of Almont; two sisters, Mrs. Hugh (Myrtle) Woodburn of Romeo, Mich., and Mrs. Lon (Mary) Reid of Kewadin.

 

The body is at the Briggs Funeral Homer where friends may call.”
