Orim
L. Edgerton was born at Hinckley,
Ohio on July 21, 1861, the
eldest son of Levi George Edgerton and his first wife, Fidelia A.
Longfellow. Orim’s mother died when he
was four years old and Orim was subsequently raised by his father’s second
wife, Susan Elizabeth (Longfellow) Edgerton, who was also Orim’s aunt.
Orim’s
father removed to Akron, Summit County, Ohio
sometime circa 1870 – 1880 and Orim was married there on March 2, 1882 to
Tillie J. Illes, daughter of George and Ellen (Filley) Illes of Akron. Family records provided by Nancy Luther report that Orim and Tillie Edgerton had four
children: one son, George S.; and
three daughters, Mattie J., Mary F. and Ora Georgia. Apparently, all but the youngest of these
(Ora) died in infancy. Ora was married
to Robert James Gliem and resided in Wooster
and Fulton, Ohio.
Orim
Edgerton died on August 31, 1866, presumably at Akron, Ohio. His widow, “Mrs. Tillie J. Edgerton”, was
remarried on June 3, 1889 at Montrose, Summit County,
Ohio to Mandred L. Field, of Copley,
Ohio.
The
household of Mandara Field was recorded in the 1900 Federal
Census of Copley Township, Summit
County, Ohio (pg.
234; family #276; dwelling #278; enum. June 28, 1900), as follows:
