Robert Edgerton was recorded in the 1920 Federal Census of Hatton Precinct, Adams County, Washington, residing in the household of Mrs. Bertha Bridges (dwelling #16; family #18; enum. January 3, 1920).  He was enumerated as “Robert Edgerton, boarder, aged 53, divorced, born in Michigan, father born in Vermont, mother born in Scotland”.  His occupation was listed as “teacher – public school”.

 

Robert Edgerton was recorded in the 1930 Federal Census of Spokane City, Spokane County, Washington, residing in the boarding house of Byron E. Cowan on 210 West Sprague Avenue (pg. 261; dwelling #77; family #238; enum. April 12, 1930).  He was enumerated as “Robert Edgerton, lodger, aged 63, divorced, born in Michigan, father born in Michigan, mother born in Scotland”.  His occupation was listed as “teacher – public school” and it was also noted that he was aged 30 at the time of his first marriage.

 

The following obituary for Robert Edgerton was printed in the Spokane Review on December 16, 1939 (transcript courtesy of  Diane Hosler):

 

“EDGERTON, Robert – Age 74 years.  His home was at the Bristol hotel.  He was a retired schoolteacher and a resident of Spokane the past 25 years.  Survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Hazel Nightingale, Redwood City, Calif.  Funeral Mon., Dec 18, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of the TURNBULL-MERAGER FUNERAL HOME, W615 4th ave.  Rev. D. T. Yoder will officiate.  Cremation will follow.  O.G. Merager, funeral director in charge.”
