Rollin H. Edgerton, of Walnut Grove, Illinois,
enlisted on August 10, 1861 for service in the Union Army. He served as a private in C Company; 42nd
Illinois Infantry Regiment and died at Annapolis,
Maryland on December 22,
1864. Rollin’s younger brother, Gordon
Henry, also served in the Illinois Infantry (see Illinois: Roster of Officers and
Enlisted Men, 1900). Rollin’s body
was returned home and buried in the family plot at Galva Cemetery.
