“Roy T. Edgerton, 88 of LaValle, died Tuesday [sic], Oct. 23, 2007, at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center.  He was born on Dec. 21, 1918, in Hobson, Mont., the son of Roy R. and Lillian (nee McNulty) Edgerton.  On March 14, 1943, Roy was united in marriage to Virginia Klausner at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, Mo.  He proudly served his country in the Fifth Air Force during World War II.  Roy was the national credit manager for E.J. Brach and Sons Candy Company for 42 years, retiring in August of 1987.  He was active in the National Credit Management Association (NCMA).  He was a member of the VFW since 1946, and upon moving to the LaValle area, he became a member of the Reedsburg VFW Post 1916.  To know Roy was to love him.  He was a wonderful provider, extraordinarily kind, mild mannered, protective, sweet and mischievous.  His family meant everything to him.  He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in LaValle

He is survived by his wife of 64 and a half years, Virginia M. of Lake Redstone; children, Sharon (James) Koukl of Tyler, Texas, Bob (Susan) Edgerton of McHenry, Ill. and James (Linda) Edgerton of Dallas, Texas; “second daughter,” Sharon (John) Dietrich of Winfield, Ill.; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by his mother; and his father who died when he was 3 weeks old.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Roy Edgerton will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2007, at Holy Family Catholic Church in LaValle with Father Lorin Bowens officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Reedsburg VFW Post 1916.  Friends may call on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg with a scripture service at 3:45 p.m.  Friends may also call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.  Memorials of remembrance may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church in LaValle, or to a charity of choice.”
