Ruth Edgerton was recorded in the 1850 Federal Census of Hubbardton, Rutland County, Vermont, residing in the household of James W. Barber (pg. 172; dwelling #450, family #473; enum. August 21, 1850).  She was enumerated as “Ruth Egerton, pauper, aged 55, born in Connecticut”.

 

Ruth Edgerton died at Castleton, Vermont on April 28, 1870.  According to the Castleton death record (Vital Records, Volume 4, page 78, number 14), she was aged 75 years, born in Washington [Connecticut], the daughter of Samuel Edgerton and Anna Armstrong.  Her marital status was listed as single and the cause of death was given as “general debility”.
