Sidney H. Edgerton served in the Union Army during the Civil War.  He enlisted as a private and served in the 1st Regiment, Michigan Engineers and Mechanics, Company K.  He was later promoted to sergeant.

 

Sidney H. Edgerton applied for a Civil War invalid pension on August 20, 1903.  The application was filed from the state of Michigan and cited Sidney’s service in the 1st Michigan Engineers and Mechanics (Co. K).  J. M. Wright was listed as the representing attorney (see National Archives Pension Applications; Application #1303104, Certificate #1073674).

 

Sidney H. Edgerton was recorded in the 1900 Federal Census of Marshall (Ward 3), Calhoun County, Michigan (pg. 215; dwelling #25; family #25; enum. June 1, 1900).  He was living as a “roomer” in the household of Mary Porter, and was enumerated as follows:
