The following obituary notice for Simeon Edgerton Jr. was printed in the Brooklyn Eagle on Tuesday, August 5, 1845:

“DIED…On Monday, August 4th, Simeon Edgerton, jun., late of Pawlet, Vermont, aged 24 years. His funeral will be attended at 4 o’clock, P.M., of to-day, from the house of L. Ballard, Clinton st., near State. His friends are requested to attend without further notice.”
