Talcott Edgerton was born September 5, 1836 at Vernon, Connecticut, the son of Edwin and Celia Ann (Warren) Edgerton.  He was a twin brother to Olcott Edgerton.  Talcott was raised in Vernon, Connecticut, but resided the majority of his adult life in Massachusetts – first at Monson, then later in Worcester, Springfield and Dalton.  He was married twice – first to Lydia Ann Spencer, daughter of James and Hannah (Bates) Spencer of Curtisville, Connecticut and second to Nellie A. Sullivan, daughter of John and Winnifred (O’Connor) Sullivan, immigrants from Ireland.  Talcott Edgerton had three children, however all three died in childhood.   His two wives also pre-deceased him.

 

Olcott Edgerton was raised in Vernon, Connecticut.  The household of Talcott Edgerton was recorded in the 1860 Federal Census of Monson, Hampden County, Massachusetts (pg. 879; dwelling #1167; family #1337; enum. July 18, 1860), as follows:

Talcott Edgerton died at Worcester, Massachusetts on June 13, 1897.  According to the record of his death at Worcester (VR 474:795:840), Talcott was aged 60 years, 9 months and 8 days, and had been born at Vernon, Connecticut, the son of Edwin Edgerton (b. Monson) and Celia Warren (b. East Hartford).  His occupation was given as farmer and the cause of death as “phthisis pulmon exhaustion”.  Talcott Edgerton was buried in the family plot at Elmwood Cemetery in Vernon, Connecticut; his gravestone there was inscribed:  “TALCOTT EDGERTON / DIED / Jun. 12, 1897 / AGED 60 YRS.”
