According to the above census record, Mary was the mother of four children, all of whom were still living.  Whiting’s occupation was listed as “farmer”.  At the time of this census, Whiting and Mary were living adjacent to their daughter and son-in-law, Albert and Daisy May (Edgerton) Jackson.  Whiting’s only son, Louis B. (aka “Lewis”) – then aged eighteen – was living in nearby Smithville in the household of his sister, Mrs. Sarah Lillian (Edgerton) Aiken.
