The household of “Mrs. Sophia Edgerton” was recorded in the 1830 Federal Census of Brookfield, Orange County, Vermont (pg. 149), with the following enumeration:

1 male “of 70 and under 80” (? – perhaps father-in-law Ariel);

1 male “under 5 years of age” (son Ozro);

1 female “of 40 and under 50” (?);

1 female “of 30 and under 40” (Sophia); and,

1 female “of 5 and under 10” (daughter Selina).

The whereabouts of William and Sophia’s three elder sons (George, John and William) at the time of this census is not known. They may have been residing elsewhere in Brookfield, perhaps with a relative of their mother.
