The following obituary for Mrs. Ida Elizabeth (Klingenberg) Edgerton appeared in The Press Courier on Thursday, June 14, 1973:

“IDA EDGERTON

Funeral services for the oldest charter member of Mount Cross Lutheran Church, Camarillo, Mrs. Ida Elizabeth Edgerton, 93, were held today at Church of the Hills, Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, with the church pastor, the Eev. Ray E. Hansen, officiating.  Burial was at Forest Lawn.

Mrs. Edgerton, who made her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Guenther of Abbott Avenue, Camarillo, died Tuesday at St. John’s Hospital.  She had been confined to bed at home for more than a year.

Born in Berlin, Germany, Oct. 19, 1879, she came to America with her parents as a child and grew up in Cleveland. After her husband, Frederick Amberger, died, she married William Edgerton, who died in 1919.  Mrs. Edgerton moved to Camarillo with her daughter and son-in-law from San Fernando Valley in 1965.

In addition to Mrs. Guenther, she is survived by another daughter, Millicent Hallett of Hollywood, Fla., one brother, William Klingenberg of Ohio, and a niece.

Memorial gifts in her name may be sent to Mount Cross Lutheran Church.”
