The following obituary for William Wallace Edgerton was published in the Bound Brook Chronicle on June 28, 1918 (transcript provided by Lynn C. Sirois):

“Edgerton, William Wallace died on Friday after a long illness.  He lived in Bound Brook for 25 years, coming here in 1892 from Delaware.  He was 59 years old, born in Newport, New York on March 11, 1859.  When he was 9 years old his parents went to Delaware and he was educated there.  He learned the wheelwright trade.  He came to Bound Brook 26 years ago and worked for Jacob De Mott, the undertaker and then went into business for himself, and when his health failed, took in Bertram as a partner.  He was also an expert cabinetmaker.  He is survived by his wife, the former Sarah Hardy of Plymouth, Delaware, and two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Lane of Detroit and Mrs. George Smalley of Bound Brook, and a sister, Mrs. Carr of New York.  Funeral on Monday p.m. at his home, 333 N. Mountain Avenue.  Burial in Bound Brook Cemetery by Maxwell of Somerville.”
