Wilson Edgerton was born in Huntington, Vermont circa 1825, the son of Heman and Lydia (Taft) Edgerton.  Details about his life are limited.  He was married to Sarah F. (aka “Sally) Wood at Starksboro, Vermont on September 8, 1849.  At the time of the 1850 Federal Census, Wilson and Sally were recorded in his father’s household in Huntington, Chittenden County, Vermont.

 

In the mid 1850’s, Wilson Edgerton left Vermont, removing west along with his father, Heman, who settled in Handcock, Waushara County, Wisconsin.  Wilson was living in Otsego, Allegan County, Michigan when he died in October of 1859.  His death was recorded in the 1860 Federal Census Mortality Schedule of “Persons who Died during the Year ending 1st June, 1860” in Otsego, Allegan County, Michigan, with the following particulars:

There is no further account of Mrs. Sarah (Wood) Edgerton beyond this census enumeration.  Wilson and Sarah’s son, Eugene Wilbur, was married at Allegan, Michigan on November 29, 1883 to Ida A. Foot and had two children with her:  a son, Wilbur Lee and a daughter, Bertha Mae.  Eugene was married secondly on November 20, 1905 at Kalamazoo, Michigan to Alfretta Corwin.  Eugene was recorded in the 1930 Federal Census residing with his daughter, Bertha and her second husband, Emil Phillips, in Reeder Township, Missoula County, Michigan.
